Bay Port ESL TutorFrom my freshman to junior year*, I volunteered in the ESL room and worked with students on subjects ranging from math to English. Some days, I worked directly with students and other days, I worked to make flashcards in math and science as well as study guides. Volunteering in the ESL room allowed me to be a guide to help those who face the transition to a new school and community. I was able to foster new connections and develop skills as a communicator and mentor.
*Due to COVID-19, my senior year was online which made my schedule and success at personal coursework difficult. |
Feed my Starving ChildrenA non-profit organization, Feed My Starving Children (FMSC) focuses on packing and distributing food to people all over the world who face malnourishment. While volunteering for FMSC, I worked with others in an assembly line fashion to pack as many nourishing meals as possible. I have attended these sessions every year of high school*, although I only placed junior year into my records. FMSC is a fun and exciting to make a difference, one meal at a time.
